Buhrs upgrades BB700 for high-speed inserting

Finishing equipment manufacturer Buhrs has updated its envelope inserting equipment by launching an improved version of its BB700.

Previously, Buhrs had claimed the machine was the fastest in its field, churning out around 14,000 packers per hour.

However, this year at Drupa, the Basingstoke-based company has unveiled a modified version of the machine, which has been ramped up to 16,000 packers per hour (pph).

According to Buhrs, the machine will be perfect for companies wishing to use a C4 system to process C5/dl at "extremely high speeds".

Managing director of Buhrs UK John Ricketts said: "Over the past 100 years, Buhrs has carved out a reputation for innovation; the introduction of the BB700 16K pushes the boundaries back once again."

Using servo technology, the BB700 16k benefits from a variety of different automatic settings, and intelligent compensation for errors are possible.

The machine features RF2 Rotary Feeders and HF2 Vacuum/Friction Feeders, capable of processing a wide variety of materials such as Z-folded products, booklets and rigid products and CD ROMs.

Buhrs has also introduced its new SF2 Shuttle Feeder that is designed to handle thicker and heavier products, such as catalogues, annual reports and heavy inserts.

The company has also launched the Buhrs 4000DPW (dual paper wrapper), a new system for paper wrapping. According to the company, the machine can achieve a "record-breaking" speed of 36,000 items per hour.
