Bobst expands training team to meet demand

An increasing demand for training on Bobst equipment from UK customers has led the packaging equipment and services firm to expand its training team.

Andy Harris is the latest addition to the team. He was brought to Bobst and appointed as a product specialist for the die-cutting process at the end of last year, after a twenty-year career working in folding carton production.

"We’ve currently got another special product specialist as well and for the level of work he was delivering last year we needed to get someone else onboard," said Bobst training co-ordinator Lindsay Smith.

Bobst’s training instructors go to customers' production plants around the UK to handle machine installation and train operators in how to use the equipment.

"We’re committed to supporting our customers throughout the lifecycle of their Bobst product, whether their machine was installed last week or 30 years ago," said Neil Jones, managing director of Bobst.

Smith added that Bobst is looking to further direct the structure of the training to its clients. "We are looking at changing the structure of courses. We do tailor courses to meet with customers needs but what we are looking to do now is actively promote this," she said.

Bobst's Redditch team relocated to a larger premises in January to include a new Competence Centre to act as a training and advice hub for customers.
