The two firms will co-market and co-brand Epson’s Stylus Pro range of large-format printers and UltraChrome K3 proofing inks with Agfa’s SherpaProof.
Agfa already produces its own UV curable inks.
However, Richard Barham, Agfa Graphics vice-president of marketing, said: “We prefer Epson technology to complete our portfolio with certified printers and inks to offer a system for proofing.”
Duncan Ferguson, director of pro-graphics marketing at Epson Europe, added that the tie-up was beneficial for both companies and for their customers.
SherpaProof is part of Agfa’s ApogeeX workflow. The tie-up follows last month‘s news that Agfa Graphics will separate from Agfa Gevaert’s HealthCare and Materials divisions.
