Zanders launches new digital paper

German paper manufacturer Zanders has launched Zanpack silk digital paper for high-end packaging and added it to its Zanpack range.

Zanpack silk digital was launched in October 2016, and joins three other papers in the portfolio: Zanpack silk, Zanpack silk 2 and Zanpack touch, all of which were launched in May 2016.

Sales director John Tucker said: “As a mill we are developing a full portfolio of packaging papers and boards. We have a complete label portfolio so to give the customers the same choice in the board packaging sector and vitally, due to the expanding digital print market, we have developed specific products for this: Chromolux digital and now Zanpack silk digital.

“The feedback from customers on the other grades has been very positive, not only in Europe but in overseas countries too. They like the fact that we can offer a full portfolio and we intend to further develop it over the next six to eight months, with an increased weight range and some specials.”

The paper is ISEGA-certified, features odour and taste neutrality and is UV light resistant. It is suitable mainly for high-quality packaging applications such as premium food and drink, pharmaceutical products and tobacco.

It is available in three weights: 220gsm, 240gsm and 275gsm.

On the sales front, Tucker said it is still early days and Zanders is looking for more stockists for the range. It currently has one UK stockist, Milton Keynes-based Bulldog Paper.

Zanders also announced it has reissued its classic Silver digital grade.

“We had continued interest for the product and due to various changes within the mill it was a very easy decision to relaunch the product,” added Tucker.

Founded in 1829, Zanders manufactures paper and boards for labels, packaging and graphical applications. It employs around 500 staff, manufacturing all paper at its Gohrsmühle mill in Germany.
