The investment follows a bumper 2008 for the Leamington Spa-based company, which saw staff increase from 33 to 48 and turnover rise from £2.5m to a predicted £3.5m for 2008/09.

Warwick Printing's new machine has been installed alongside an existing Muller Martini Presto stitcher, purchased in 2002. The Presto stitcher will be used to handle work when busy and as cover if the Primera goes down.

Warwick Printing bought the Primera 110 in response to a huge increase in its magazine demand.

Managing director John Young told PrintWeek: "About 18 months ago we could boast around 70 magazine titles. Now we have more than 200."

Young said he believed 2009 would be a big year for the company, which has been growing its portfolio since moving to a new site in 2003.

He added: "After we moved it took a little while to get over the relocation costs, but within a year we had made up ground. In the last two years we have invested heavily in the businesses."

Warwick Printing has also been using the current financial climate to its advantage – the company has brought in several skilled employees from failed printers Quebecor World and Goodman Baylis.
