Triple win at industry awards for Rose Calendars

Rose Calendars has concluded the year on a high with a triple sweep at the annual Calies awards at Stationers’ Hall.

At a London ceremony on 28 November, the Colchester calendar specialist took the top prize in three separate B2B categories – Animals or Natural World, Contemporary and Corporate Bespoke.

The Calies is the new iteration of the National Calendar Awards, having rebranded for its 2017 run. At last year’s ceremony, Rose Calendars won in a single category.

Managing director Michael Rose said: “Compared to last year, this is certainly quite a result.

“It is tough to meet the submission deadline in early October, especially for the bespoke calendars, because a lot of deadlines do not line up at the end of the year. There are jobs we have done since the awards that I also think could have been contenders.

“While it has been a challenging year for all businesses thanks to the concerns around Brexit, there has been a bit of a return to printed calendars. They are practical compared to digital ones as you can take notes, and they even provide the pleasurable experience of looking at things like natural wonders and beautiful islands from your office desk.”

All three winning calendars – titled ‘Deep Blue’, ‘Ethos’ and ‘Electric Rock’ – were designed, printed and finished in-house by Rose Calendars. According to managing director Rose, the team looks at upwards of 100,000 images each year to find the best ones for its output.

Equipment on 110-year-old Rose Calendar’s 2,323sqm premises gives the business both litho and digital print, as well as various bindery capabilities.
