The Lettershop Group bolsters sales team with new hire

The Lettershop Group (TLG) has strengthened its sales team with the appointment of Robin Skinner as business development manager.

Skinner took up his new role at the Leeds business, which is part of YM Group, last Monday (4 June). Filling a position at TLG that has been vacant for six weeks, Skinner has spent the last 11 years at Eclipse 4DM and, prior to that, worked for Colorgraphic (Vertis) for 14 years.

His appointment comes nine months after former MarketReach media specialist Lance Hill joined the company as sales director. The pair have known each other for 15 years and worked together at Eclipse 4DM for eight years up to 2013.

Hill said: “I’ve been looking to strengthen the team with good, experienced sales professionals who I trust and who have a good reputation. One of the big challenges in our market and industry is recruiting quality people. It’s tough and it takes time, but I’d rather wait and get the right person.

“I had to wait a bit of time to get Robin but it’s well worth it because he is of that calibre that I was looking for.

“I was already looking for somebody anyway but the previous business development manager leaving accelerated the need and getting Robin in is a great coup. I liken him to a centre-forward – you want someone who is going to consistently hit the ball in the back of the net and Robin is one of those people, I know he can do it.”

Skinner added: “I’ve always admired the innovation and reputation of The Lettershop Group, so am delighted to have been given the opportunity to join the team.

“There is a passion here about pushing the boundaries around paper engineering, so I’m very much looking forward to the years ahead.”

Hill said he is looking to make further additions to the sales team in the near future.

“You never stop looking, you’re always on the lookout for good people. The area I particularly want us to push on in is with new business. We’re very lucky in The Lettershop Group and in the wider YM Group that we’ve got a very strong customer base, predominantly in the retail sector.

“I’d now like us to go on an aggressive business development phase where we go out and target new customers. We need to branch out and start looking at other sectors.”

TLG's setup includes a Kodak Prosper 6000C high-speed inkjet press, which it bought at Drupa in 2016.
