TCS secures UK Mamo distribution deal

Terry Cooper Services (TCS) has become the exclusive UK distributor for Italian manufacturer Mamo’s range of finishing equipment.

The portfolio, which will be supplied by TCS with immediate effect, includes laminating, folding, creasing, binding and packaging machines.

Central to the line-up is Mamo’s flagship £8,995 Lega 420M semi-automatic hotmelt perfect binder, which TCS sales director Dean Stayne said would “be the main focus”.

Ideally suited to high-productivity book binding up to 420mm spine length, this machine has an exchangeable cover-clamp tool that enables it to handle soft covers from 70-400gsm and hard covers up to 2mm thick.

Powerful spine and side clamps are said to enable accuracy on uncreased covers, making workflow faster and cost-effective.

The working process is customisable through the included software and a touchscreen allows the operator to easily choose and set notching and milling depth, cover and side clamp pressure. Its manual and automatic modes aid job flexibility and maximum productivity.

Stayne called the Mamo kit “affordable, easy-to-use and an excellent addition to our expanding portfolio”.

“To have the option to do both hard and soft cover books on a small machine like the Lega 420M is really good,” he said.

“We get a lot of enquiries for hard covers from people who are doing personalised memorabilia books for customers, which are usually one-offs and individuals.”

Mamo’s kit was previously sold in the UK by Watkiss Automation, which was acquired by Morgana’s parent company Plockmatic Group last year.

TCS distributes new and used systems including guillotines, binders, collators, bookletmakers, foil-blocking and folders from manufacturers including Grafcut, CCM Premier, Challenge, Bagel and Yawa.
