StackaWraps to license one-sheet 3D POS system

StackaWraps is set to launch its new 'one-sheet 3D' concept as a cost-effective alternative to complex three-dimensional POS applications.

PanaWrapping is a new patent-pending system from the StackaWraps digital studio which generates 3D elements for POS that can be printed and cut on a single sheet of board.

Expected to launch at the start of June, it will be sold as a license to brands who will then receive PDFs of their images, manipulated using StackaWraps’ newly developed system, to send to printers who can bring and cut the board so a 3D object can be easily assembled.

“In the past, if people wanted a three-dimensional element to their POS you need to use two-up techniques or plastic, which can be expensive and bad for the environment,” said StackaWraps director Richard Peter.

“PanaWrapping means you can create 3D add-ons for showcards, floor-standing banners, FSDU sides and headers using a single sheet which greatly reduces cost-per-unit.

“Our patented StackaWraps systems is manufactured by us and our print partner NEC Graph-fix, but with this system we wanted to work with the whole sector which is why we will be generating the master files inhouse to then be sent to clients who can work with their printers.”

Natasha Leigh, head of communications at StackaWraps, was closely involved in the development of the latest project and said PanaWrapping would be “a new form of innovative finishing” on par with laminating, foiling and embossing.

When a PanaWrapping piece is manufactured, the tabs on the 3D element fit into slots on a provided 2D background that allow the piece to form into a photorealistic 180-degree model merged with its background.

Also in early June, the company will launch Popheads, a new direct-to-consumer product that provides flat printed sheets that can be folded into 3D models, such as children’s characters and animals. Peter said licenses were currently being agreed with major entertainment brands and the product be made available on Amazon Prime.

Manchester-based StackaWraps launched its original fabric- and film-based POS prop system in 2016 and has gone on to see Jupiter director Ben Moss and Displayways chief executive Rob Kelly sign on for equity stakes.
