Spandex and Roland DG team up for open day

Spandex is hosting an 'innovation day' to try and woo signmakers, wrappers, printers and shopfitters with a range of Roland DG equipment and substrates suitable for the sign and display sector.

The technology on show at the event next week includes the TrueVis VG-640 printer-cutter, Soljet EJ-640 printer, the Texart XT-640 dye-sublimation transfer printer and the VersaUV LEF-300 desktop UV flatbed printer.

Visitors will also be able to take part in a vehicle wrapping workshop with live demonstrations using Oracal 970RA premium wrapping film.

General manager Leon Watson said: “The growth in vehicle wrapping continues to astound me. Spandex is the single biggest supplier of wrap films, with over 370 colours and patterns.

“In addition to vehicle wrapping, one of our other largest growth areas is wall coverings. New ImagePerfect wall papers, especially our new easy-to-use products have taken off across all print platforms.”

The Bristol-based supplier is showing off both kit and techniques on 12 April at the Roland DG (UK) Creative Centre at its headquarters in Clevedon.

Spandex’s team will discuss latest materials including ImagePerfect textiles and wall and floor coverings, and Orafol’s colour shift wrapping material.

Last October Spandex offered five new ultra-metallic finishes after adding Avery Dennison's Diamond films to its range of Supreme Wrapping Films.

A month before it extended its product portfolio to include a new 'shade-shifting' car wrap where the colour changes depending on the viewing angle.
