The Calne franchise signed up to the Planet Mark Sustainability scheme on 16 May and has since been set targets to change its approach to the recycling of non-commercial plastic and cardboard waste, as well as adding new, greener offerings to its range.
It has now sourced a non-PVC vinyl from 3M that will be offered as a sustainable alternative to its typical vinyl applications. Similarly, a biodegradable eco-board supplied by Sygnus has been introduced to the business’ offering. All eco products will be offered at a premium.
Owner Mark Collins said: “We are looking towards meeting our targets on recycling and substrates by the end of this year. It is just a case of trying to be friendlier to the planet.
“Our next major step is finding a way to recycle at minimal or no cost to the business, as there is often a fee that comes with working with organisations to recycle materials.”
Collins opened the Signs Express Bath operation just over a year ago, marking its first anniversary at the start of this month. His focus now is on continuing to grow the new business.
Based on 232sqm premises refitted last year into a “purpose-built sign-making facility” with a bespoke vehicle bay, Collins heads up a team of three staff that runs an Epson SureColor SC-S80600 alongside lamination and roller table capabilities.
