A high-definition inkjet web press that builds on the existing Truepress Jet520HD, the machine can achieve a resolution of 1,200dpi and precise droplet size control at speeds of up to 150m/min. It is aimed at high-end publication and commercial work.

Using Screen’s SC inks, the manufacturer said Truepress Jet520HD+ users can maximise the quality available with the press on a wide range of paper stocks, including standard offset coated stocks, without the need for pre-treatment.

Integrated with the machine is new Screen NIR Dryer technology, which features enhanced drying functions that improve drying performance for both lightweight coated stocks and heavier weight, coated offset stocks.

Screen said this expands the range of applications available to the user and enables higher productivity for difficult-to-dry substrates, with increased print speeds on offset coated stocks, including gloss, silk and matt.

“The NIR dryer strongly increases drying capabilities without heating up the paper, so it means we can run at much higher speeds,” said Screen EMEA wide-format systems product manager Martijn van den Broek.

He added the NIR dryer minimises the chance of cockling as it reduces the temperature of the drum and dries the ink on top of the paper.

“The NIR dryer is also positioned right after the printheads, so the ink has the best chance to absorb into the paper, which gives a brighter image.”

Under the theme ‘Digital Everywhere!’, Screen said its Hunkeler presence “will reflect the major international impact of digital printing and the company’s ability to lead change”.

Visitors to the manufacturer’s booth at the show, which will take place at Messe Luzern in Lucerne, Switzerland from 25 to 28 February, will also be able to see the Truepress Jet520NX, which was launched at the last Hunkeler Innovationdays event in 2017.

Additionally, the company will outline its relationship with Solimar Systems and exhibit its SC inks and workflow technology.

The Truepress Jet520HD+ is commercially available with immediate effect. While pricing for the machine was not disclosed, van den Broek said it is “slightly higher” than its predecessor.

The Truepress Jet520HD will remain available on the market and is field upgradable to the Jet520HD+ configuration.
