Pureprint in Ryder Cup mega print job

Pureprint has recently produced all of the printed collateral for the 2018 Ryder Cup.

The Uckfield-headquartered business, a triple winner at last month’s PrintWeek Awards, was print partner for the event, which was held at Le Golf National, Paris at the end of September.

“It was a complex project with nearly 70,000 individual orders picked, packed and dispatched from our fulfilment centre, each pack being scanned and tracked as 350,000 tickets were sent to addresses across Europe, USA and the rest of the world,” said Pureprint Group client services director Will Marsh.

Ticketing required integrating the firm’s workflow with the ticketing agency order processing system utilising the Purity Event Management software that Pureprint developed alongside European Tour, which gives full traceability and order matching.

Pureprint has been printing for European Tour for two years. As well as producing the 350,000 personalised tickets, the Players Guide, Media Information Booklet, Media Photographers Guide, and 45,000 copies of the Ryder Cup Programme were printed at the company’s Uckfield site.

Menu cards, place cards, scorecards, lanyards, luggage tickets and vehicle decals were also part of the package.

Work on the job started in April and continued right up to and during the event itself, where Pureprint’s project management team also manged overnight draw sheet production at a local print supplier it had sourced in Paris, delivering to the course by 4am each morning.

Earlier this year Pureprint took on four members of staff and 15 post-press machines following the collapse of Chessington-based Barwell Print Finishers, and became the first UK firm to upgrade its HP Indigo 12000 with HD writing heads.

Investing more than £20m in new kit over the past five years, the business turns over more than £65m and employs over 400 staff.
