Macfarlane Group has signed off another summer investment, this time a £700,000 spend at its Scottish label business.

Macfarlane Labels has installed a highly automated 10-colour Nilpeter FA flexo combination press. The new machine offers additional capacity at the Kilmarnock operation, replacing a mothballed press.

“This significant investment for our labels business is in response to increasing and changing demands from our customers and their consumers,” said Macfarlane Labels sales director Angela Campbell.

The new FA was commissioned earlier this month and is configured with in-line foiling, lamination and 100% inspection capability.

“This latest technology in printing produces the highest label quality to ensure that our customers’ brands are perfectly presented. The press allows us to meet our customers’ ever changing needs and demands, led by innovative marketing trends.”

The 88-staff site now runs six Nilpeters as well as an HP Indigo WS6900.

This latest group investment follows a £200,000 spend at its packaging Innovation Lab last month, which followed the 1,000 staff packaging and labels group promising to repay around £1.3m in furlough cash.
