Lincs lives and village vistas celebrated in charity calendar

An enduringly popular stocking filler, calendars continue to fly off the shelves every festive season and many are produced to raise money for good causes.

Ringrose Law and Sleaford, Lincolnshire-based printer DPS Digital collaborated on the 2019 LIVES calendar, published in aid of the Lincolnshire charity, which provides pre-hospital care services and whose responders have helped one in five people in the county over the past 15 years.

“Ringrose Law and LIVES are both clients of ours. Over the years ourselves and Ringrose have joined forces on numerous projects to help support a few different local charities and this is the third year we’ve worked together on the #LIVESLovesLincs calendar,” said DPS Digital account and new business manager Chris Strawson.

What was produced?

Ringrose Law launched a competition to invite members of the public to enter shots of Lincolnshire landscapes and landmarks under the theme ‘Lincolnshire village life’. The pictures entered were initially narrowed down to 45 by a judging panel and then printed by DPS Digital onto Foamex board and those were exhibited at the International Bomber Command Centre in Lincoln and online. The public could select their favourite images and the top 12 made it into the calendar.

What did the job entail?

Once the winning pictures had been chosen, DPS Digital began work on the calendar design. “Most images were absolutely fine, so colours didn’t need tweaking. We designed, then printed ready for the launch at the Bomber Command Centre on 25 October,” said Strawson.

The calendar consists of a front and back cover printed on Silk 350gsm, and 12 double-sided inner text and image pages printed on Silk 150gsm. 300 calendars were initially produced, on DPS Digital’s HP Indigo 12000. They were then trimmed on a Morgana EBA guillotine, punched on a GBC Eurowire 2000, hole drilled on a Filepecker III-60 paper driller and the wires were closed using a Renz ECL 360 wire closer.

What was the feedback?

Very positive on all counts. Ringrose Law marketing manager Alex Bennett said: “DPS always deliver high quality print and are super-efficient in meeting deadlines. We have an excellent rapport with Chris and the team, and they are always happy to help us with our printing needs. The calendar is currently on sale and we have received fantastic feedback.”
