The £9m-turnover east London-based company has replaced an existing Galileo platesetter with the machine, which is imaging Agfa's chemistry-free Azura TS plates.

Established in 1990, Leycol is running the new Avalon to image plates for its four litho presses. The chemistry-free plates also conform to the company's green credentials after it recently secured the ISO 14001 environmental standard.

Peter Handley, managing director of Leycol Printers, said: "We wanted to move to chemistry-free platemaking and the new Azura TS plate has a clear, visible image before going to press, as well as the high productivity we need."

The 70-staff business serves clients ranging from bluechips to design agencies, and also uses Agfa’s Apogee workflow and Sublima screening technology.

Handley added: "It was amazing how quickly Agfa had the system up and running and it’s been first class from day one."
