Konica Minolta has previewed a new single-pass toner label press that will be available early next year.

The manufacturer showed the AccurioLabel 400 for the first time today (31 May) at its European Labels & Packaging Exhibition in Madrid.

KM said that existing users of its AccurioLabel 230 would be able to upgrade to the new model. It celebrated the 1000th installation of the 230 model this year.

The AccurioLabel 400 handles paper widths of up to 250mm or 330mm. It is available in four- or five-colours with new white toner.

Speed is up to 39.9m/min, while resolution is 1,200dpi which KM said was the equivalent of 3,600dpi.

KM said that it had a market-leading share of 28% of the digital label press market in Europe, and would be targeting a potential market of 7,000 mid- to high-volume label converters with the new device.

Carsten Bamberg, business development manager for the Professional Printing Group at Konica Minolta Europe, said the business was driving towards the ‘smart factory’ with a range of software and hardware solutions: “The digitisation of the label industry will continue to accelerate with double-digit predicted growth annually. Opportunity is everywhere. It just takes a spark to make it happen.”

Jon Hiscock, head of production and industrial print at Konica Minolta Business Solutions (UK), said the UK was one of the larger label markets in Europe and there was “lots of opportunities for this product as digital label production continues to grow”.

“The AccurioLabel 400 gives us a massive opportunity to speak to existing customers about the benefits it offers, as well as speaking to new customers as we continue to grow our professional print business here in the UK.”

The original AccurioLabel was launched at Labelexpo in 2017.

Konica Minolta also has a 42% stake in French digital finishing and embellishment specialist MGI.
