Kluge International joins forces with Eagle Systems

Kluge International has partnered up with Eagle Systems to sell and support Eagle cold foil-systems in the UK and Ireland.

The equipment costs around £220,000 and offers what the manufacturer calls a unique in-line foiling system for any offset printing press.

The main target audience is packagers but according to Kluge International, which is part of the AeTee Group, the kit is also suitable for magazine covers and posters.

The Eco-Eagle cold-foil finishing technique is an add-on system that can retrofit on to any new or existing sheetfed offset press.

AeTee chief executive Thomas Andersen said: “The people behind Eagle Systems have 40 years of foiling experience but around seven years ago switched from hot to cold foiling technology.

“The unit does everything so there are no problems with operator error. It works on any offset press but it must have six colours, as the cold foiling takes place in the first two towers, leaving the four-colour process.”

Andersen said: “It provides the benefits of high-quality performance and reliability as well as efficient machine-ability and cost effectiveness.

“Spot or overall foil coverage is printed inline and then overprinted at standard press speeds. One advantage is the ability to use webs of foil in single or multiple widths, as narrow as 2in.

“You can use them in any combination, reducing foil cost and consumption and eliminating waste. Set up times of less than 10 minutes and complete automation ensures the system delivers cost savings.”

He added: “The possibilities for printers, creatively speaking, are exciting and we are offering the Eco-Eagle system alongside our traditional Kluge hot-foil stamping, embossing and die-cutting platen presses.”

Kluge International is the UK-based sales and service arm of Brandtjen & Kluge, a fourth-generation family business founded in the US in 1919.
