Kernow debuts new films at Fespa 2019

Kernow Coatings has launched two new film substrates in its KernowJet range at Fespa 2019, KlearWipe and WallShark.

Compatible with all wide-format printers, the new substrates will make their show debut alongside the rest of Penryn-based Kernow’s portfolio of coatings, PVC-free materials and adhesives.

KlearWipe, a long-term clear dry-erase lamination film, will also be showcased in Munich ahead of its commercial release at the end of June, while self-adhesive, PVC-free, textured wall covering film WallShark will be shown for the first time since its release to market.

Wide-format product manager Renée Kruit said: “There are always other products that WallShark and KlearWipe will be compared to, but these films have been developed with unique features that certainly justify their launch.

“For example, with WallShark, the combination of a thick polyester together with the unique ‘SharkSkin’ texture will give customers a unique product easy to apply and reposition while applying without distorting the image as well as an excellent colour gamut and really good scratch resistance.

“For KlearWipe, the focus was set on offering a very qualitative, but also versatile solution. It will perfectly work for manual wet application or for mechanical lamination and it is specifically designed for UV-cured inks, as well as working with all other types of inks. It will be offered up to 1.524m for perfect fitting on rigid substrates in 1.5m.”

WallShark is designed as a printable substrate for both long- and short-term wall coverings, while KlearWipe is a non-printing material for turning a smooth substrate into a dry-erase surface.

The KlearView range of films to facilitate 3D effects on window graphics will also appear on the stand, with different version compatible with eco-solvent, latex and UV-curable inks.

Kernow will showcase its range of Metalik films by printing the material on a Mimaki UCJV300 Series printer and demonstrating its versatility in wall covering, window graphic and doming applications.

Kernow Coatings will exhibit at stand A5-F25 at Fespa, which will take place at Messe Munich from 14-17 May.
