KBA claims biggest press at show

KBA claims its six-colour Rapida 145 with coater and new double delivery is the biggest press running at drupa. It has also revealed more details of its joint venture with Xerox for folding cartons.

KBA (16-C47) also has a flexo press on its 3,000sqm booth for the first time.

A double-pile delivery previously only seen on banknote presses has been added to the Rapida 145 for quality-critical applications such as pharma printing. “If there is one bad sheet in a pile for these customers the job usually gets returned in full,” said chairman Claus Bolza-Schünemann.

The new VariJet 106 marries KBA offset printing units with Xerox Impika inkjet technology and a range of pre- and post-print treatment options.

KBA has a virtual presentation in a special cube on its booth.

“This is a very unique solution. We can run high solids using offset and the rest digital. We believe it will be the benchmark,” said Ralf Sammeck, chief executive of KBA Sheetfed Solutions.
