Innotech brings laser signage estimation tool to UK

Innotech has launched a laser measurement package in the UK aimed at wide-format and signage printers.

The device, called Spike, is manufactured by New Zealand company IkeGPS and enables users to map out the area of a sign or graphic by taking a photo on a smartphone or tablet.

The package includes a laser device to attach to the smartphone or tablet in order to capture the width, height and area of the space. It also features a subscription to cloud storage and an app, in order to transfer the data quickly to the office.

Innotech has exclusive rights to sell the product in the UK and Ireland.

Marketing manager Kieran Dallow said: “The device eliminates the need for ladders. You can get an estimation from the ground using a tablet or smartphone device, cutting down the time it takes to make a quote by half.”

“The whole point is that it’s time saving,” he added. “In turn, it saves people money. There have been reports that customers have been so impressed with the software, that they’ve accepted quotes on the spot,” he said.

The software records the measurements using the photo, which it exports as a JPG or PDF document to ensure the data is easily shared. Photos can be accessed via the cloud and app, which is available on both Android and iOS devices.

Dallow said sales had gone well in the US, which prompted IkeGPS to enter the UK and Irish markets at the end of March.

The product will be on display at the Sign & Digital UK show from 19-21 April at the Birmingham NEC.
