ImageData scores world first with Onset R40i buy at Fespa

Display printer ImageData Group has invested in the world’s first Inca Onset R40i UV flatbed printer at Fespa Digital 2014.

The Yorkshire-headquartered company placed an order for the printer at the show with Inca Digital’s exclusive global distribution partner Fujifilm. It will be installed this week at the firm's premises in Howden.

The Onset R40i, which can handle media up to 50mm thick, has a 14pl droplet size and a maximum print speed of 400sqm/hr.

It is the latest addition to ImageData's Inca line-up. In 2004 the firm was the UK beta site for Inca’s Columbia Turbo flatbed printer. It installed two of these devices and followed up with an investment in an Onset S70 in 2007.

Chief executive David Danforth said: “Our business is growing and the new Onset will provide us with the extra capacity we need with the outstanding quality we demand. We always review the major suppliers when buying new equipment and we really feel that we have a perfect fit with the Inca R40i.”

ImageData Group offers a range of products and services to retail, public sector, corporate and trade clients including 3D displays, design, and display and signage fitting.

“The Onset R40i will be used on a wide variety of substrates for POS displays. However, our corporate and public sector clients are increasingly using display graphics. As our clients’ audiences fragment even further and traditional targeting becomes ever more difficult, out-of-home media like outdoor, exhibitions and events are becoming more attractive,” said Danforth.

The firm has invested around £5m in new kit over the past 12 months including a new Komori Lithrone GL540 H-UV litho press, which was installed in April, and an Inca 3/4 automatic material handling system, which it also bought at Fespa. Its range of digital kit includes devices from Durst and Agfa and it also runs Thieme screen printing lines.

ImageData Group employs 220 staff over three sites in Brighton and Willerby and Howden in East Yorkshire. It has a turnover of nearly £25m.
