The Caldicot, Monmouthshire-based machinery and consumables supplier’s new line includes the OKI Pro9541, an SRA3 LED printer with an additional white or clear spot colour and an optional envelope feeder, and the Titanium 0604 digital cutter-creaser.
IGS said the OKI machine, which the business took on distribution for two weeks ago, offers high print quality and speeds and a low cost of ownership.
The device can handle a wide range of stocks from A6 to SRA3 and banner lengths up to 1.3m and it also facilitates economical short-run envelope production.
The Titanium 0604 digital cutter-creaser, an OEM version of a machine from Chinese manufacturer JWEI, can handle a maximum sheet size up to 400x600mm and features a cut through knife, kiss cut knife and creasing tool.
It can be used for prototypes or short-run packaging applications and with the kiss cut tool option it is said to deliver digitally cut labels with no requirement for cutting dies.
A registration camera is supplied as standard with all Titanium cutters, which ensures printed jobs are cut accurately to register. The camera can recognise any type of mark on the printed material using a high-resolution camera mounted to the tool-head.
IGS managing director Peter Flynn said: “We’ve only just taken on board the agency for the OKI machine, to complement the Titanium. OKI know that with our used equipment market we specialise in the small to medium-sized print market so they approached us and said that this product with the Titanium cutter would be a great bundle.
“There is no click charge on the OKI, you just buy the consumables as and when you want them. And to change the cartridge over it literally takes 20 seconds, you don’t have to do anything like flushing out inks.
“It’s perfect for small to medium-sized printers but also for the bigger guys who are looking to do something special like the white and varnish, but where to do that at the moment on their existing machine is a real pain.”
The new bundle will be publicly launched at and commercially available from The Print Show, which runs this week (17 to 19 September) at the Birmingham NEC.
The package will cost £29,000, while IGS will also supply the OKI printer and Titanium cutter separately, for £15,000 and £17,000 respectively.
“But the two machines together are ideal and The Print Show is a perfect opportunity to offer it as a short-run digital production line,” said Flynn.
“Additionally, our background is Harlequin RIPs and we’ve been working with Xitron on a Harlequin plug-in which we’ve got working really well now.
“So for anybody that’s got a CTP device with a Harlequin RIP for example, we can put a plug-in into it and drive the OKI.”
