The contract, which the Bristol-based printer has won as part of a competitive tendering process, will last for two years and also covers the Wild Place project and Bristol Zoological Society.

Gemini West will produce items including maps, leaflets, guides, educational booklets, mailings and stationery for the zoo, all of which will be printed on the firm’s five-colour-plus-coater Heidelberg Speedmaster SX 74, installed last year.

Gemini West director Rob Page said: “This is a nice contract for us because it’s a local charity and what they do and support is fantastic.

“We adopted the butterfly as our corporate identity many years ago to highlight our unwavering commitment to preserving the environment, so this contract is a great fit for us.

“The zoo does so much more than display animals – it’s a conservation project that has helped save over 175 species from extinction.

“It's very much a two-way deal as they want to work with their suppliers as well; they put on a lot of events that we’ve supported and have attended.”

The business has also recently printed a range of items free of charge for the zoo as part of a new fundraising campaign for its new giraffe house.

Gemini West, formerly known as Ambassador Litho, is part of Gemini Group.

In the past few weeks the 23-staff business has also taken delivery of a six-station Muller Martini Bravo Plus saddle stitcher. The device, which has replaced an old Muller Martini Presto, was bought to boost the firm’s efficiency.
