Fujifilm is gearing up for the second part of its Real Production Show, and has decided to hold the live online events on a monthly basis due to the success of the initiative.

The first live demos took place last month and featured printing at Fujifilm’s Brussels technology centre with subsequent production steps then moving to partners Harris & Bruno in Germany and Highcon in Israel.

Part two takes place next Tuesday (27 October) with the action switching to Japan, where partner Horizon will finish sheets printed on Fujifilm’s Jet Press 750S B2 inkjet press at its huge Horizon Innovation Park (HIP).

The focus is on flexibility and efficiencies.

The finished job involves packs of postcards featuring the work of Belgian photographer Michel Petillo.

Fujifilm Europe product manager for digital printing and press systems Mark Stephenson said the positive response had spurred the manufacturer to expand the original remit.

“We’re going monthly with these sessions as that’s the way things are for now – we can’t sit around and wait for things to happen,” he explained.

He said that potential future topics included books, photo products, and sustainability.

“There are all kinds of things we can cover, and we’re inviting feedback from people on what they would like to see,” he added.

The Japanese session has been timed so that customers in Europe can still tune in. It takes place at 10.30am UK time.

The session will conclude with a panel of experts on hand to answer participants’ questions.

Stephenson also quipped that the Brexit-themed postcards that formed part of the first demo had mysteriously disappeared “somewhere between Europe and the UK” but that Fujifilm would “get Brexit done” and print more ready for the second Real Production Show.
