Company of the Year: Buxton Press

Three cheers for three years; this is the third consecutive category win for the stellar sheetfed printer in Derbyshire. But team Buxton will not rest. “In spite of ongoing good results they’re still investing and still seeking efficiency gains, which is impressive,” said the judges.

Latest stage of a £20m investment programme was a 930m2 factory extension and a host of finishing kit. Meanwhile, a clever focus on environmental performance reduced energy requirements and 70 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions. “The financials,” said the judges, “speak for themselves, but the strategy that delivers those results has to be admired - by any measure this is an incredible business.”

“This story,” insisted the judges, “just gets better and better,” especially
in the past year. Turnover rose over 13% to almost £8.6m, margins grew, the company relocated to Redhill, and it secured £1m of new business - good work in a market “dominated by much larger businesses,” added the judges.

Sales up, margins up, profits up – which all goes to prove that the marcomms specialist is only going one way. The 135-staff business based in Sheffield and Stansted has put in a fantastic effort to leave judges in no doubt that ProCo is “definitely one to watch in the future”.
