National Apprenticeship Week kicks off today with a series of virtual events across a wide-range of sectors.
Speaking when the details of this year’s event were announced, apprenticeships and skills minister Gillian Keegan said: “National Apprenticeship Week is a great opportunity to highlight the amazing opportunities that an apprenticeship brings to employers, individuals and the economy.
“As a former apprentice I know what a life changing experience it can be, and I’m looking forward to being part of National Apprenticeship Week 2021 and seeing first-hand the inspiring ways apprentices and their employers continue to deliver.”
For its part, the BPIF will be hosting a virtual event from 9am to 1pm on Tuesday 9 February.
The event, hosted on the Hopin platform, will feature two content streams, one aimed at employers and one for apprentices.
On the employer stream, sessions will cover how to get the most out of the Apprenticeship Levy; a briefing on the Government’s Plan for Jobs Initiative, how to support your staff’s wellbeing and an update on the BPIF’s School Engagement Programme.
While the apprentice stream will feature case studies on careers in print, an intro to print taster session, personal stories on how print apprenticeships shaped their careers from the BPIF’s Amy Elrington and Solopress joint founder Aron Priest.
Both streams will then be closed with a panel discussion with apprentices, employers and training experts chaired by Printweek editor Darryl Danielli.
