The BPIF has created a fresh set of member services for HR and Health & Safety that have been born out of new ways of working driven by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The federation has created an online platform featuring a suite of integrated tools, which its members can use to check compliancy at their own businesses, culminating in an Action Plan detailing any necessary changes. 

The new tool has been developed by the BPIF’s specialist teams, led by Anna Stretton, the BPIF’s head of HR, and Mandy Robson head of HSE. It has been designed with remote working in mind allowing members to log in from anywhere. 

Robson said the platform had been designed to be an easy-to-use support channel where firms can carry out regular healthchecks. 

“In simple terms, it’s a tool where we can take a member through a whole questionnaire related to legislation and best practice,” she explained. 

“We can set members up so they can have self-assessment and do it themselves. Once they’ve done that they receive an Action Plan detailing any gaps that need to be addressed.

“And from that, there will be weblinks into our website directing them to the exact area, so they can walk through our step-by-step guides to becoming compliant. Or we have advisors on hand who can go through that with them and talk through specific topics – whatever the gaps are.”

Beta-testing has been completed and it is now being rolled out to the BPIF’s wider membership. 

Impress Print Services in Walton-on-Thames was one of the companies involved in testing. Clare Saunders, HR and compliance manager, said it had proved a valuable exercise, and she had “found all the tools extremely helpful”.

Robson added that further tools were in the pipeline: “We’ve got HR and HSE exactly aligned, to make it really consistent for members. We’re now developing a similar thing for environmental.”
