Adare SEC (Secure Essential Communications) confirmed an order for two new Ricoh VC60000 colour inkjet web presses at Drupa.

The business currently runs a raft of high-speed mono and colour digital lines including eight Ricoh systems, 16 Xerox cut-sheet devices, and six Riso inkjet printers across its operations.  

It will swap out one of its two existing Ricoh InfoPrint 5000 duplex lines at its Huddersfield site to make way for the new VC60000s.

“We will then have three high-speed colour lines,” said Adare SEC managing director Barry Crich. “We need the extra capacity to respond to increasing demand from new and existing customers.”

Adare SEC services include transactional print and statements and mailings for clients in financial services.

The VC60000s will provide a speed and quality boost as they run at up to 150m/min and can print at 1,200x1,200dpi. The presses will be installed at Adare SEC in Huddersfield. The operation also has a security printing site in Redditch.

Stephen Palmer, Ricoh director of production print UK and Ireland, said: “Adare is a long-standing customer and we’ve worked hard on our partnership with them. They have aggressive growth plans and we look forward to working with them on this latest investment.”

Palmer described the output coming off the VC60000s as “incredible quality”.

“They use Ricoh inkjet heads, ink and controllers so we manage the whole process,” he added.

Adare SEC runs most of its volume mailing work roll-to-roll and then encloses on its 10 intelligent enclosing lines from CMC.

However, the latest investment also includes a near-line sheeter from Hunkeler to give the business additional flexibility.

The first VC60000 will be installed at the end of the July, with installation of both machines due to be completed during September.

Crich said Adare was also working closely with the print facility at Banner Managed Communication in Guildford. Adare bought Banner last month, creating a £230m group.
