HP has unveiled its latest large-format press, the Scitex XP2300, and claimed that it is the world's first 3.2m UV roll-to-roll machine designed specifically for the outdoor signage market.

The press, which was launched at Viscom Europe yesterday, offers a top print speed of 233sqm an hour at resolutions of up to 360dpi.

It is targeted at the production of billboards, displays and building wraps, and is claimed to output 180sqm from a single litre ink cartridge.

The four-colour UV machine, which will be available from 1 December, features 16 piezoelectric printheads and can print onto a variety of substrates that include self-adhesive vinyl and uncoated PVC.

Santi Morera, vice president and general manager of large-format printing within HP's Imaging & Printing Group, said: "The new Scitex XP2300 further strengthens our position as the one-stop-shop for all large-format printing equipment, while helping our customers extend their application range and grow their business."

At the show, HP is also demonstrating its recently launched 104in Designjet L65500 Printer – its debut machine to incorporate Latex printing technology.

This large-format press is designed for the production of applications such as point-of-sale display and vehicle signage.
