Charlton Athletic gives two-season printing contract to Bishops Printers

Charlton Athletic has awarded the contract to print its home matchday programmes to Portsmouth-based Bishops Printers.

Each of the 23 matches for the 2009-10 season will require around 4,000 programmes of up to 80 pages to be printed. The six-figure contract also covers the 2010-11 season.

The programmes are printed on a B2 10-colour Heidelberg perfector and the company said it was confident that more of the newly relegated team's print work will follow once it has proven its quality with the programmes.

Bishops Printers also prints programmes for Chelsea and Fulham in the Premiership, as well as Crystal Palace in the Championship.

Business development manager Warren Skelton said: "It's a prestigious job to win and one that will further enhance our reputation. We are looking forward to a long and successful business relationship."

Bishops Printers employs 130 staff and has a turnover of £12m.

As a Charlton supporter printing the match day programmes would be a dream job for me. Unfortunately as we specialise in short run digital, printing Millwall or Crystal Palace programmes would be more realistic!

Great to see Charlton placing work outside the local area, especially as there are so many local printers probably employing Charlton supporters among others. The community spirit didn't extend

to printing then ?

As a season ticket holder for many many years I have managed to get the odd meeting but nothing else. If they don't buck up this season they will be able to print the programmes on an office copier.

Up the addicks..........
