Duplo UK has launched the iSaddle Pro Digital System, which is targeted at commercial printers with high print volumes.
Duplo said the device brings saddle-stitching technology to high-volume digitally printed applications, such as A4 landscape, brochures, personalised reward statements and photo album booklets.
The machine, which is available with immediate effect, combines Duplo's new DSF-6000 sheet feeder and the iSaddle. Pricing starts from £125,000.
The DSF-6000 is also available to buy independently, for iSaddle users wishing to retrospectively fit the new sheet feeder to their device.
The DSF-6000 has three times the capacity of the DSF-2200 sheet feeder, which was unveiled at Duplo’s London Calling in November.
The manufacturer said other benefits include full personalisation - as every booklet is unique, an advanced Air Management System that ensures consistent feeding on a wide variety of paper sizes, speeds of up to 600 sheets/min and ultrasonic sensors that accurately detect any feed errors.
Furthermore, the machine, which is fully automated through PC-based job programming systems, can be set up within 60 seconds and has an integrated buffer system to ensure the high-speed productivity and control of sheets being fed into and coming off the system.
It can produce finished booklets from 2-up 90x75mm up to A4 landscape and Duplo’s photo album format 300x300mm, and can handle weights of 64-300gsm.
Duplo UK marketing manager Sarah Crumpler said: “This is the highest-production saddle-stitcher that we have now got commercially available. It takes the iSaddle to the next level in terms of being able to produce higher quantities faster.”
Duplo International product manager Réginald De Ghellinck added: “Organisations such as banks and insurance companies have to produce personalised, confidential booklets for their customers. They need to ensure 100% that the information is going to the right person, as every single booklet produced will be unique.
“This is where digital marketing comes into its own and why the Duplo iSaddle Pro Digital System - guaranteeing full integrity - will become a must-have machine for our growing customer base.”
The system will be shown in public for the first time at Duplo’s Northern Lights event, which will be held at The Royal Armouries in Leeds from 8 to 9 March.
Last month the business launched the 150Cr Booklet System while at its London Calling event in November, it revived the PFI brand to sell complementary products made by partner manufacturers and push into new geographical markets.
The finishing machinery supplier, based in Addlestone, Surrey, attracted 300 visitors to London Calling and £750,000 of its finishing equipment was signed for over the two days the event ran.
