Wide-format machinery manufacturer Mutoh has launched two new additions to its ValueJet X series.

The ValueJet 1324X has replaced the 1324 model

The new single-head 1.37m-wide ValueJet 1324X and the dual-head 2.6m-wide ValueJet 2638X models have replaced the VJ-1324 and VJ-2648 printers and are available with immediate effect through Mutoh’s reseller network.

The machines, which are engineered and manufactured in Japan, join the 1.62m-wide ValueJet 1624X single-head and ValueJet 1638X dual-head models in the ValueJet X series.

Mutoh commercial marketing manager Nick Decock said: “These machines bring even more reliable quality compared to the previous generation and we’ve integrated more comfort.”

The two new printers incorporate micro piezo head technology. The 2638X incorporates two printheads mounted in a staggered configuration while the 1324X includes a single printhead. The printhead can produce ink droplets from 3.5-35.2pl. Each variable drop printhead has eight channels with 180 nozzles per channel.

The ValueJet X series printers are suitable for long-term outdoor and indoor sign and display applications such as posters, banners, backlit signage, wall coverings, POS displays, fine art reproductions, vehicle graphics and stickers.

Both printers can be used with Mutoh Eco Ultra or Universal Mild Solvent (UMS) inks to deliver sellable production speeds at 720x720dpi up to 16.4sqm/hr on the 1324X and 39sqm/hr on the 2638X, on both vinyl and banner.

Mutoh recently obtained a pan European Indoor Air Comfort Certificate, which makes the UMS inks suitable for the production of certified indoor decorative prints.

The machines also feature Mutoh’s DropMaster technology. This automatically recalculates and adjusts uni- and bi-directional fire timings according to media thickness and therefore the distance between the substrate surface and printhead.

The manufacturer said this feature eliminates the need for the user to manually recalibrate the device, increases image definition and smoothness and saves the operator significant time.

“The DropMaster technology means the machines can print higher quality and at higher speeds, which increases the comfort level for the end-user,” said Decock.

To cope with higher print volumes, the 2638X is equipped with a heavy-duty motorised unwinder/winder 100 system for media rolls up to 100kg. A newly designed torque-controlled motorised 30kg take up system is available for the 1324X.

Decock said the firm will show a selection of models from the ValueJet X series as well as the ValueJet 405GT desktop direct-to-garment printer and ValueJet 1938TX direct-to-textile printer at Fespa Digital, which will take place in Amsterdam from 8 to 11 March.
