Newsprinters hosts ViP best practice visit at Knowsley

Newspaper manufacturer Newsprinters has been recognised for its best practice by Vision in Print (ViP).

The News International subsidiary has become the first printer to host the ViP Best Practice Club, an honour usually reserved for other industries.

ViP aims to demonstrate to printers the benefit that other organisations and industries are gaining from practising continuous improvement or lean manufacturing techniques. Previously, industries including car manufacturing and pharmaceuticals have been used.

Newsprinters held the event at its Knowsley plant, the second largest of its new UK super-sites, considered to be some of the most advanced printing facilities in the world.

Brian McGee, managing director of Newsprinters, said: "We are immensely proud that Vision in Print has chosen our site in Knowsley for a visit by the Best Practice Club.

"Newsprinters has invested heavily in making sure that all our plants are examples of print industry best practice and we're keen that this knowledge should benefit the industry as a whole."

Gil Reid-Robbins, managing director of ViP, added: "Newsprinters' excellent standard of lean application is a good benchmark for all who want to set challenging standards for their own business, we hope this will be the first of many best practice visits to UK printers and packagers in the coming years."
