Ipex Presses Preview Star Product: Heidelberg FoilStar
Friday, 19 March 2010
First seen at Ipex 2006, Heidelberg is set to unveil a ‘world premiere’ at this year’s show as it enhances the FoilStar cold-foiling system with a new indexing feature. In the original version, the amount of foil used was always equivalent to the circumference of the blanket cylinder, whereas with the new transportation, the indexing of the material results in the amount of foil used equating to the sheet size instead. The potential cost savings on materials amount to as much as €0.09 per sheet, claims Heidelberg, and the firm also cites environmental benefits because of an accompanying reduction in CO2. It is targeting the unit at high added-value commercial print applications, as well as packaging and label producers.
