Baum: 'Confident'
Morgana expects UK sales to pick up following US boost
By Adam Hooker Thursday, 04 February 2010
Finishing equipment manufacturer Morgana Systems has said that export sales confounded industry trends last year by registering growth despite the poor market for equipment sales and lack of credit.
Furthermore, the company claimed that it was beginning to see anecdotal evidence that business in the UK may also be picking up.
UK managing director Quen Baum said: "I had a salesman call me last week and say he had three unprompted phone calls in one day, I don't think that has happened in nine months."
Its US subsidiary, Morgana USA, posted a 7% increase in sales in 2009 compared to the previous year, marking five continuous years of growth, despite a tough year of trading.
Morgana’s overall results will be announced at the end of June, but Baum said he is confident that sales would continue to show an upward trend.
