Océ JetStream 2800
Océ unveils 30in digital web press
By Tim Sheahan Thursday, 19 March 2009
Océ has thrown its hat into the 30in inkjet arena with its new JetStream 2800, targeted at full-colour book and newspaper production.
The manufacturer made the announcement at its Home of Color event in Poing, Germany yesterday where it also revealed the continuous-feed ColorStream 9000 for transpromo and marketing applications.
Océ claimed its 2800 inkjet web was the fastest in its class offering print speeds of up to 130 metres a minute, equal to 2,632 A4 pages a minute at 600dpi.
The manufacturer said the JetStream 2800 supported the "accelerating transition" of newspapers and books to colour digital.
Crit Driessen, vice president of marketing and strategy for Océ Production Printing, said the new JetStream played a part in an "integrated inkjet strategy that helps our customers pursue new business opportunities".
In addition to the new toner-based ColorStream 9000, Océ unveiled two other JetStream engines, the simplex 500 and duplex 1000, which it is targeting at transactional direct mail printing.
Océ chief technology and operating officer Manfred Maier said the launches recognised that there was no such thing as a "one-size-fits-all technology".
