Soho printer buys £100,000 kit for perfect binding move

London print shop Printroom Soho has moved into the perfect binding market following an investment in equipment from Duplo.

The £1.3m-turnover company has invested in a DPB500 DuBinder, a Digital System 2000 Bookletmaker, a DC 445 Ducreaser and an Ideal 7228 guillotine, in an investment just short of £100,000.

Co-owner of the 16-staff business Anthony Antoniades said: "We recently invested in a new digital printer, and we needed better finishing equipment. We have had a number of enquiries from people who prefer perfect-bound work.

"I don't think that there is anyone else in the Soho area that can offer digital printing and perfect binding. And we are open 24 hours-a-day so we can take in a large amount of business."

He added that the company is considering investing in further automated folding equipment, as well as a new digital press next year.
