Brochure Printer of the Year: Beacon Press
Brochure Printer of the Year – Winner: Beacon Press (Pureprint Group)
Tuesday, 21 October 2008
Beacon Press takes another award in this category, having walked off with the top prize in 2006.
The judges were impressed with the high levels of quality and one judge noted that Beacon’s work demonstrated that printing is still a craft with “superb finishing”. One submission was for luxury brand Boodles. Beacon printed a brochure for its new Wonderland collection of jewellery. Texture, detail and richness of colour were the requirements for the main images and an interesting cover was needed. Beacon’s solution was to use high-intensity four-colour inks run at enhanced weights. The digital photographs were converted and enhanced using Beacon’s Purecolour image enhancement techniques. The cover design was delivered with a matt lamination and spot UV varnishing. Beacon also rose to the challenge of printing a high-quality brochure for kitchen furniture specialist Plain English.
