Web and sheetfed printer Ancient House Press (AHP) has bolstered its environmental credentials after the company became PEFC accredited.

The Ipswich-based company employs 105 staff and is also ISO 14001 and FSC accredited.

Joint managing director Allison Berry said: "The PEFC accreditation reinforces our environmental commitment, demonstrating that we take the concerns of our customers seriously.

"It also underlines our support for the sustainable management of forests around the world."

In order to receive the certification, AHP has put in place a number of procedures to ensure it has a valid chain of custody. Berry was unavailable to comment further at this time.

Earlier this year, AHP invested £70,000 in a new waste management system.

The system handles printers' waste by automatically removing it from each machine through a suction point.

The company has invested £750,000 in new equipment for its finishing department and in 2007 it also installed a £2m Mitsubishi Diamond 3000 Tandem Perfector 12 colour press.
