HDP has launched Freedom Fount, which it has described as a one-stop alcohol replacement solution. Aimed at sheetfed printers that want to reduce or eliminate IPA from their systems, the fount is IPA- and VOC-free and biodegradable.

We use the latest surfactants available to produce and control an even film of damp on the plates while giving the printer optimum latitude and ink and water balance, said Chris Whalley, HDP’s UK sales manager. It offers printers a clean and safe working environment. According to HDP, the product is stable in all water conditions and has improved surface tension properties to eliminate the need for alcohol without cutting print quality. It also reduces ink feedback to the dampening system, which is said to result in fewer blanket washes.
