Book publisher Copytech has invested £85,000 in finishing equipment to support the expansion of its post-press division.

The Peterborough-based company has installed a new Horizon BQ470 four-clamp perfect binder and will be adding a CMC Italia APA case-making machine in the next few weeks.

According to managing director Andy Cork, the machines were 'a must' because the company's workload has doubled in the last year.

He said: "We have never offered a complete end-to-end service from design through to distribution before. It has led to a lot more work so we needed to invest in additional finishing capacity."

The company, which bought a new Xerox Nuvera in March, is also planning to purchase a neighbouring warehouse, increasing its site from 1,300sqm to 2,300sqm.

Copytech's clients include self-publishers, local bookshops, and academic publishers Oxford University Press and Taylor & Francis.

The company has an annual turnover of £2.5m and currently employs 20 staff.
