Goss International and Manroland have resolved their US patent infringement case involving web offset press sleeve blanket technology.

Terms of the agreement, which was the culmination of a patent infringement lawsuit filed in 2003, remain confidential, although it is understood that the manufacture and supply of both parties' presses will be unaffected.

A statement on Goss' website said: "Both parties acknowledged that the resolution was in the best interest of their companies and their customers, allowing them to offer their full press portfolios to the worldwide marketplace."

Goss' original lawsuit alleged that Manroland's Rotoman S press infringed three of its US patents for sleeve blanket technology used in its Sunday web offset presses.

The Sunday press was developed by Heidelberg before it sold its web press division to Goss International. The first Sunday press shipped in 1993, since which time more than 2,000 units have shipped.
