Recycling boost for Yellow Pages
Newsprint manufacturer Aylesford Newsprint is to reprocess old Yellow Pages directories for the first time, after Yell Group made improvements to the directory's manufacturing process.
Aylesford Newsprint recycling operations manager Andrew Perkins said: "Yell reduced the amount of ink in the directories earlier this year, which made the directories suitable for recycling."
He said that Aylesford was previously hesitant about removing the ink from the copies, as the ink levels generated by printing the pages yellow were not appropriate for recycling.
The company reprocesses paper into 100%-recycled premium grade newsprint at its mill in Kent.
It is understood that AbitibiBowater’s Ellesmere Port site in Cheshire also recycles the Yellow Pages.
