Growing fruit packer invests in Proseal machinery

Proseal, the heat-sealing specialist, has devised and installed a bespoke £500,000 packing system for fresh fruit salad for a major fruit processing factory.

The new system can operate at up to 60 trays per minute and comprises three fully integrated lines that deliver to eight packing stations where fruit is packed by hand.

Each line includes an automatic tray denester, a Fastrax conveyor, a filling conveyor, a Proseal GT1 tray sealer, an outfeed conveyor containing label printer, a label verification, a checkweigher and a metal detector.

A thermal transfer printer has been incorporated into the GT1 for coding the film.

The lines are controlled from a single touch screen on the Proseal GT1, which uses the newly developed Proline-M line management software.

Proline-M allows a company to collect comprehensive data from all the equipment in the line for production monitoring and analysis reasons.

Meanwhile, Proseal's Prolink system connects all the equipment to a local area network (LAN) that enables operations to be carried out from a computer on site or remotely via the internet.

The modular system also allows the easy removal of parts for cleaning.
