Shoot gets the boot

IPC Media has given Shoot the boot four months after relaunching the 40-year-old children's football magazine as a weekly.

In March, the publisher changed its monthly format to compete with BBC Magazines’ Match of the Day. It also faced competition from the Attic Media Network-published Kick!.

Shoot, which is printed by Polestar Colchester, will close at the end of the month. It was launched in 1969 and was a weekly until 2000, subsequently being launched as a monthly.

Paul Williams, managing director of IPC Inspire, said: “It is with great regret that we had to make this decision.”

IPC division IPC Inspire is in exclusive negotiations to sell the Shoot trademark to Pedigree Books, which publishes the Shoot Christmas annual and a range of Shoot activity books.
