Tipografic swoops for failed rival Buckleys
Label printer Buckleys Print and Packaging has become part of rival Tipografic after it went into administration for the second time in eight months.
Tipografic Print Solutions, a company incorporated at the start of the month and headed up by two directors of Wirral-based Tipografic Print Group, bought Stockport-based Buckleys after it went into administration last Wednesday (11 July).
The deal has created a packaging print group in the North East with sales of close to £9m and more than 200 staff.
A spokesman for administrators Daniel Plant and Simon Franklin of London-based SFP confirmed their appointment to the 110-staff company, which was last year commended for the quality of its label printing at the PrintWeek Awards.
The spokesman also confirmed the sale to Tipografic, but gave no further details. None of either companies’ directors could be reached for comment.
However, documents posted at Companies House show Tipografic Print Solutions was incorporated on 2 June. Jeffrey Cornell and Stephen Cole, who are both directors of Tipo-grafic Print Group, are listed as directors of the new firm.
The positions of former Buckleys directors Peter Lightfoot and Philip Teer were unclear as PrintWeek went to press, although calls to Lightfoot’s mobile were redirected to Tipografic Print Solutions. Calls to Buckleys’ factory were also being answered as Tipografic Print Solutions by last Friday.
Buckley and Bland collapsed last October but re-emerged as Buckleys Print and Packaging when a group of directors led by Lightfoot bought its assets (PrintWeek, 25 October).
