Lexon Group buys new Screen Truepress for PoS growth

South Wales-based printer Lexon Group has made the first UK investment in Screen's new large-format inkjet printer as part of a point-of-sale expansion, signing for the kit at Drupa.

The Screen Truepress Jet 2500UV, which became commercially available at the exhibition, will start production at the corporate and automotive print specialist's Crumlin hub in August.

The greyscale hybrid reel-to-reel and flatbed machine can roll out 300dpi billboard and banner work at 70sqm per hour, while also offering resolutions up to ultra high-quality 1,500dpi output.

Benn Davis, sales director at the 88-strong family-owned firm, called the buy a natural progression as part of a push for more retail customers.

He added: "We offer offset, digital and screen printing and needed a top of the range system to produce PoS material for our high-end retail clients, such as Christian Dior. We evaluated many systems, but the quality of Screen’s printer clinched the deal."

The Jet 2500UV, which is at the vanguard of Screen's push into wide-format markets, was premiered at Sign & Digital UK 2008. Its hybrid functionality enables printing on both flexible and rigid substrates.

Lexon's plant list includes a Thieme screen printer and Mimaki JV3 solvent machine, while it provides offset work via its five-colour B2 Komori Lithrone 528 and four-colour B3 Heidelberg DI press.
