SCR Envelope Solutions buys UV press for overprint work

By Tim Sheahan Tuesday, 20 May 2008

SCR Envelope Solutions has bolstered its overprinting capacity by taking delivery of its third four-back-one-colour UV press, a Halm EM5000.

The Leeds-based envelope printer invested in the machine after experiencing steady levels of growth in its four-colour overprint work.

The press allows the 45-staff company to print four-colour on one side and single-colour on the other side of the envelope, as well as printing on matt-coated stock.

SCR managing director Steve Allott said: "It's an area of our business that's growing and we'll continue to push it further.

"People get so much mail; by printing four-colour and with the option to print on matt stock, it helps the envelope really jump out."

The Halm EM5000 can handle a maximum sheet size of 230x400mm and can print up to 30,000 envelopes an hour in perfecting mode.
