St Ives brings in ex-Camelot marketing guru
St Ives has appointed the National Lottery’s former head of marketing in its latest move to become a marketing services provider.
The listed group has hired Natalie Somerville as strategic marketing consultant to head up a new service that will offer independent consultancy to clients across a range of briefs.
The service will work alongside St Ives’ existing teams which focus on retail marketing, online management and its creative team, and will consult on strategies such as customer targeting and how to mix above-the-line and below-the-line campaigns.
Somerville’s appointment is the latest move in print towards offering wider marketing services to clients (see below).
Simon Ward, St Ives managing director for UK sales, said: “It is important that St Ives continues to be a strategic partner to its customers – we are not just a print supplier.”
Somerville worked for Lottery operator Camelot in a number of roles, including heading up marketing and media for all Lotto games. She has also worked as a consultant for B&Q.

This is encouraging thinking from a forward looking printer. Many printers have access to a set of valuable clients and should be thinking about how to add value to their services - pure print may often no longer be enough.
